Ghost in the Shell Comes back with Anime Series in 2026. 

Howdy! Anime Lovers, Let’s fetch some anime-related news. Ghost in the Shell is coming back with an Anime series, produced by Science Saru in 2026. Bandai Namco Filmworks announced the news this Saturday titled Kokaku Kidotai or The Ghost in the Shell. To Announce the news Kodansha released a teaser compiled with manga events from Masamune Shirow’s manga. Not only Science Saru but Kodansha (Attack on Titan Manga), Bandai Namco Filmworks, and Production I.G. are co-producing the anime. 

Ghost in the Shell

Originally written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow debuted by Kodansha in 1989. The premise focuses on 21st-century Japan where Makoto Kusanagi leading the counter-cyberterrorist Organization. 

Production I.G (Attack on Titan, Beyblade The Movie, Blood+ Manga) produced several anime adaptations of the franchise. The first one in 1995 Ghost in the Shell and its sequel Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in 2004 were also produced by Production I.G. 

Not only these but the 2002 anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and its sequel Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 were also a part of the production. 

Ghost in the shell

Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg co-produced the live-action movie starring Scarlet Johanson in the lead role of the movie. The movie was released in theatres in March 2017. 

Sony Computer Entertainment also developed the game version with the same name for PlayStation on July 17, 1997, in Japan. 

Over the years Masamune Shirow’s Work has been an inspiration to many including the makers of The Matrix. The Wachowskis mentioned how Matrix took several concepts from the film and The Avatar Creator James Cameron also admitted it influenced his movie Avatar.
