Rom-com Manga Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms Inspires Anime. 

Howdy! Anime Lovers, let’s dive into some newly released anime adaptations. Ran Kuze’s Rom-Com Manga Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms (Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsujina) is all set to receive its anime adaptation. The official website for the anime revealed the teaser visual, and promotional video along with the staff. The early comments from the creator and director were also released.

The Manga centers on Mona Kawai who lives the dream of any high schooler. She is popular and beautiful and just everyone happens to adore her. What could go wrong? But the new transfer student has some other plans. Medaka Kuroiwa doesn’t adore Mona Like everyone in the school. He doesn’t even want to get involved with girls. Mona decides to impress him but the more she tries more she fails. It’s hard to break the vow of monk-in-training, forbidden by temples. What will happen? Will Mona make him fall in love? 


Adapted from the original work of Manga written and illustrated by Ran Kuze. Yoshiaki Okumura (Antique Bakery, Ikuze! Gen-san) is directing the anime at Synergy SP Studios. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Beast Saga, Beyblade: Metal Masters, Claymore) is handling the script for the anime. Mayumi Watanabe (Freezing, Happy Seven, Koihime) is designing the characters and Akiyuki Tateyama (Laid-Back Camp, Sword Dynasty) is composing the music.

Ran Kuze’s manga debuted in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in May 2020 as a One-shot. Then it began serialization in the same magazine in 2021. Kodansha released 13 volumes of tankobon as of Feb 2024. 

Kodansha USA licensed the series for English publication and released the manga in March 2022. The manga sold over 1.4 million copies.
